Women was bitten by Flesh eating Bacteria
A Woman from Tennessee, USA reported to the media that she was infected with a flesh-eating bacteria while doing a manicure in a nail salon and almost cost her, her right hand.
Jayne Sharp reported to the virtual news channel that this happened earlier this year at Tennessee’s Jazzy Nail Bar while getting her nails done.
Sharp quoted that it all started with a prick which the shop employees told her not to worry about. But after a few hours her thumbs began to throb and began to feel flu-like symptoms. Her daughter who is also a registered nurse appealed her to go to a doctor and she went. But the very next morning, the swelling had made it all the way up Sharp’s elbow and she was taken to the emergency room where she received the news that the reason for the ailment was necrotizing fasciitiswhich isa rare but deadly bacterial infection that kills the body’s soft tissue. She quoted to the WTVF that “The doctors told us had I waited another hour it might not be a good situation,” she also said that “I think of the man in Florida was dead in 48 hours from flesh eating bacteria.”
A man who was struggling from cancer, died after a Florida beach trip this July and his daughter confirmed that he was infected with Vibrio vulnificus, which manifests into necrotizing fasciitis.
Another 12 year girl in Indiana who was enjoying her vacationing with her family in Florida in June also contracted rare flesh-eating bacteria. The doctors noticed an infection between the girl’s knee and diagnosed her with necrotizing fasciitis, reported CBS affiliate WKRG-TV. She was last reported to be pulling through.
Sharp had to undergo multiple surgeries performed in Knoxville and Nashville, to be back normal. She also quoted that her thumb is still numb and looks a bit different than before but was lucky to be alive. Sharp told the outlet she is pursuing legal action against the salon.
