“The journey towards being a councillor began at my age of eight, during which I started getting involved in religious activities” quotes Suresh and adds “such religious activities were my initial steps of socializing with people and making good networks all around”. Thereafter completing his schooling, he joined different charity organisations and started working with them. This work life inspired him to start his own social activities like blood donation campaigns. He himself has donated blood several times with his blood group being AB-, one of the rarest blood groups. In time, supporters, activity partners and friends helped him in taking these activities forward in a successful manner.

He first joined his parental organisation, “Ramapuram Grama Samudhayam” as a committee member and then grew to Vice-President and President with time and still continues in the same position. He is also a part of Brahmana Sabha, in which he began as a member and rose to Trivandrum District secretary and then State- Joint secretary. In 2016, he has served as the General Secretary of Kerala Brahmana Sabha for one year.

With little interest personally, and more nominated by the people, he contested as an independent candidate, with the support from BJP, which paved him a grant entry in public serving.

Social service being his primary motive:

Social service being his primary motive, he has his roles in the Fort residence group and also in the Heritage protection forum and does his duties in them perfectly. One such achievement is the renovation of stone elephant sculpture, (kal aana) with the help of archaeology department in the Fort, located in the east entrance. His untiring effort has also facilitated in renovating the “Agraharam dwellers” in his Fort constituency.

The same year he was selected for the councillor, his life crowned him with Smt. Sangeetha Iyer, a national level Mohiniyattom performer and indeed an animal lover, who works for rehabilitation and rescue of stray dogs

Despite his political journey being both passionate and a coincidence, Suresh’s passion for social service and charity makes him “a people accepted councillor” of Fort, Trivandrum
