He has a sophisticated pick, hails from the historic town of Burdwan he is genuinely passionate of what he does. The only offspring of his parents, the utmost pride of the family. Rahul Sarkar, a very young and dexterous fashion designer says “To enable, to eradicate the belittling and underdog days of schooling, just like women struggle for equality in society, little boys who don’t play sports have a difficult time to stay on the surface. In an all-boys school of brooding machoism, I survived, my way”.  He has an aspiring characteristic and is at the verge of achieving things he has been aiming at. A very warm and lively soul, that has been winning awards and is praised for his excellent collections. Success is at his feet and has done justice to his work and has placed his identity to a level where his parents are proudly wiping tears of joy.

When still a kid, he remembers himself as a naughty lad and of being rebellious. All of it was tamed, the rebellious nature continued to thrive. He spent his childhood in a boarding school. He had an extreme passion towards dance, music, elocution, and makeup. As he was bewitched towards articles used or worn by women, his mother helped him make clothes for dolls and his aunt taught him how to make little clay Shiva Lingas. Rahul belonged to a business family and so nobody really gave much importance to his artistic needs so never had any formal training in art or music. It was his passionate interest towards things and self-learning that has led him through the true path.

Just like most of the middle class Indian families he too had a struggle to counsel his father that ‘a career in the arts isn’t as bad as it is reputed to be’. Every father has a dream to discern his son as an engineer so did his father, but his dreams were disparate from the others. Although his teachers from school helped him till an extent to convince his father, it was all his own effort. Without any guidance he helped himself getting an admission at NIFT Gandhinagar, after several rounds of examinations. It was 6 months since he joined college his father turned blind due to an existing tumour on the optic nerve in the brain. That is when the real struggle began since a career in fashion was going to be expensive. The grief stricken incident had left no say other than selling off a land that his father had brought several years ago. Young Rahul had always been determined, however the lack of necessity enabled him to go out of his way to not only gain a firsthand experience with things but also have some sort of financial stability as well. The family in totality gave their support to him at every stage. Even though in many places they were financially decrepit, never stopped motivating him.

He began as a freelance stylist and designer all through his college days and in 2014, he won the ‘Megamart fashion designer Award’ of the year, a reality contest held by Arvind brands in Bangalore. The prize money he won helped him create his collection Panchatantra, which bagged him the ‘Best creative and innovative design collection Award’ at the graduating ceremony. He did more of drawing, drama, music and dance. His skills and good work got him offered a pre placement position before graduation, thus he joined the organization also, and did retail stint with Van Heusen in the stores. Today he is the Deputy Manager for an international company. He wanted to be a part of something exciting and energetic and since it is a digital age, he chose to be a part of this organization which gave him more number of bills, receding social life and friends.

The prolific youth says he is monetarily satisfied with his current pace, but creatively there is a lot of scope. He is a makeup artist as well. This is something he does to keep his creative juices flowing. Has also been working towards a bigger picture which he hopes to nitiate by the end of this year and that is to start a fashion label of his own and is in the process of figuring how to make it, about just pretty clothes and pretentious lifestyle. A lot of potential has been put in all together to achieve the aimed career and living style, hope that he makes up to his design
