Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, famously known as P.V.Sindhu has created history in the world of badminton by becoming the first Indian World Champion, in the BWF world championship. The Women’s single finals was held at St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland on 25th August 2019. Final match was against Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara, and P.V. Sindhu crushed Okuhara with a score 21-7, 21-7, a sweet revenge against her defeat from 2017.

A precious jewel in sports and beyond

Sindhu was born on 5th July 1995, in Hyderabad to P.V.Raman and P.Vijaya, (Both her parents being national level players in Volleyball).She came into the world attention when she gained her position in the top 20 BWF world rankings in September 2012 at the age of 17. Sindhu is the first Indian women to win an Olympic silver medal, and was the one among the two Indian Badminton players to win an Olympic medal. She had won Silver in common wealth games 2018, 2017 BWF world championships, 2018 BWF world championship consecutively. In 2018, she was ranked 7th in the Forbes list of Highest paid female athletes 2018 with an earnings of $8.5 million. She has also been ranked in the Forbes list of highest paid female athletes 2019, with an earnings of $5.5 million, placed in rank 13.

She is the second women after Zhang Ning to win five medals in world championship.

P.V.Sindhu is a big inspiration to many sports aspiring people all around the globe, especially India. She is a Jewel to India in the field of sports.
