Rundown of the movie
The film’s plot revolves around a character named Karamveer Singh (played by Ayushmann Khuranna), who works in a call centre making calls in a fake identity named Pooja. He wants to marry his girlfriend. But, a few men and a lady falls in love with his fake identity and the film shows different situations taking place in Karams life.
Dream girl is a Bollywood film released on 13th September 2019, starring Ayushmann Khurrana as the main character and Nushrat Bharucha, Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh and Vijay Raaz in supporting roles. Raaj shaandilyaa is the director of the film and it has been co-produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under their banner Balaji motion pictures.
Films first poster was released long before, on 18th December 2018 , and its first official trailer was launched this year on 12th August.

Trade analyst and critic Tarun Adarsh had tweeted, “ #DreamGirl: Winner. Ayushmann Khurrana continues his dream run… Full-on entertainer with dollops of humour… Garnished with witty lines… Ayushmann, Annu Kapoor terrific… Raaj Shaandilyaa’s direction hits the right chord. #DreamGirlReview”, and gave the film a four out of five star rating.
High Praise of media
Hindustan Times praised Ayushmann for his commitment, acting and also suggests the movie for its high dose of laughter for a break free from the normal busy lives.
Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express gave her review saying “You stay watching Dream Girl for Khurrana. He plays Karam/Pooja with grace and conviction, and makes this thing sing. He is the one who has been shifting the goal-posts in the depiction of masculinity in status-quoist Bollywood, and this film, in which he plays both man-and-woman, minus preciousness and exaggeration, would have been the perfect vehicle to take the conversation a notch higher. If only the film had been better”, and gave a two star rating for the film .
And finally, Charu Thakur from India Today gave a three star rating to the movie and mentioned “Raaj Shaandilyaa deserves credit for bringing something new to the table. However, his hesitation to delve deeper into the subject makes it score less on the report card. If you are looking for a light-hearted comedy this weekend, Ayushmann Khurrana’s Dream Girl should definitely be on your list”.
Ayushmann with his acting skills has been giving continuous hits and now he has again added another feather to his hat with Dream girl. The film is being applauded and praised by many, with Ayushmann’s acting, Raaj Shaandilya’s direction and different humorous and meaningful dialogues being major plus points in boosting the success percentage of the film.
Opening Day Collection
Dream girl has an opening first day collection of ₹10.05 crore (100 million approx.), and has become the biggest first day collection for any Khuranna film released till date. Films collection on second and third day are ₹16.42 crore and ₹18.10 crore respectively. Fourth day marked the 50 crore milestone, and became Khuranna’s fastest film to cross ₹50 crores. Dream girl has gained a weekend collection of nearly 45 crores. And as on September 16th, 2019, the film has grossed ₹74.11 crores worldwide.
