Daxing International Airport: Yet another magic design by Zaha Hadid, opened in Beijing.
New massive Daxing International airport in Beijing, the starfish, has been made open for Business, right in time for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of People’s Republic in China, on October 1st 2019.
All about inauguration
On Wednesday, President Xi Jinping, who arrived for the inauguration of the airport, was welcomed by the airport officials as he made the entry to the glistening gold and glass mega terminal just before the noon. President Xi Jinping then went through a reel of brief highlights of the airport design and construction, which was followed by the praise filled speeches for the President. Mr. President, took his turn at the very end to declare Beijing Daxing International Airport to be opened/inaugurated. Airport’s maiden flight AirbusA380, took off from one of the four runways of the airport later that day, an honour which goes to Daxing’s tenant, the China Southern.
Only domestic section has been made operational and the customs and immigration are yet be opened. The airport will connect to more than 112 destinations around the globe by next spring.
More about the structure
Construction of the project began in 2014 with a budget of $11.5 billion. Credits for the Design of the airport goes to the Iraqi architect, Zaha Hadid and her Chinese partners. More than 40,000 workers joined together to bring the project to its completion. The airport is made for the future with a size of 97 soccer pitch and facilities for customer service using robots which would provide the travellers with information regarding flights and airport.
The interior of the airport made of sleek, modern design is really striking, with more than 80,000 roof top windows for good light entry and a traditional model Chinese courtyard/garden based around the pond of koi carp. Different high-end stores and restaurants and setting up to serve the travellers. Airport authority has promised a security checkpoint in every 600 meter distance, and the security measured also include the facial scan of the traveller which will be relayed on, in each part of the journey in the airport, including the security and departure gates.
The Combined Chinese-modern architecture along with the facilities made for the travellers, altogether give a new, fresh, amazing feel, worth to be added to their airport experience.
