TIn today’s social media world, we come to forget what travelling is all about and often associate it with spending a lot of money and picking an airline to a far away country. Where the sea meet the prayers
Some of it resembles the instagram pictures of Bali that not necessarily need another filter. The entire place feels like a therapy. The mood left people hugging the wind on hill tops, racing with the waves, chanting prayers in the temple and even climbing the rocks and saving the shells of all shapes, the view never really ends. Take a walk through the narrow path towards right and experience the adventure met spirituality. Sea and the shore, adorned by tall coconut trees ornamenting the beautiful Shiva temple, with the sunset and the sky to add the ambiance. if you are ready to pay some bucks, go for a complete Ayurveda treatment from resorts nearby, but a long walk around the place is enough to take you back alive. Though it is calm, the sound of waves won’t leave even when you return. These are the images one should capture without a camera.

‘Aazhi’ means sea and ‘mala’ means hill. Here even the tiniest birds fly high. Hold your spirits, grab eateries and some water as there are less shops nearby. Located on Adimalathura, Kazhivoor, rightly placed between Vizhinjam and Kovalam, around a 24 and half kilometer from Trivandrum, with a considerable parking space. Entry is completely free, with temple timing ranging from 5 30 -9 30 am, to 4:30-8:00 pm, while beach stays welcoming all day. You can finish the sightseeing by two and half hours. Summers evenings are best to visit cause winters can be slippery. You should be cautious while taking pictures too close to the end of cliffs, as there is no limit to how far waves can go, with weak safety measures or mere presence of life guards and sign boards, this should be done with a little care. Visitors are no way near to Shankumugham or Kovalam, thus pollution is less with more of nature, there is still a few amount of thrown plastic to get ridded of. Weekends are bursting with explorers, as the vibe and energy the spot offer is priceless.
Half of the visitors are disciples of lord Shiva, who stopover the temple to seek his blessings then get awe-struck by the landscape. There is even a mythological legend associated with the place, Bhīma the strongest pandava from the great epic Mahabharata happened to pass the place with his clan, when got thirsty strike a giant rock with his ‘gada’ which instantly shot fresh water that even exit till today, it is also said that two marks left on the nearby rocks are Bhīma’s. Here the sea meet the prayers. It happens to hold endless tourism potential even though the lack of maintenance can left this place unnoticed. The Shiva statue is on construction for more than two years now, yet incomplete. If worked on this can be one of the best tourism spot of Trivandrum. Even now it’s one of the purest part of nature that one should definitely pay a visit.
