As a part of the 25th anniversary of the world famous TV sitcom show ‘FRIENDS’, Ralph Lauren, the luxury fashion designer is releasing a fashion tribute to Rachel Green, one of the main characters of the show. They released a collection inspired by the aspiring fashion executive played by Jennifer Aniston, the series’ chicest character and one-time fictitious employee of the designer.
They released the collection in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Bloomingdales, the capsule collection features wear-to-work looks based on already existing products that might have found their way into Rachel’s wardrobe in 2019. The collection includes velvet jackets and turtlenecks, leather trousers and skirts in suede, leather and plaid, both in mini and midi length.
In order to deliver nostalgia to the fans, promotional shots for the line were taken on sets that replicated some of the main spots in the TV show. This includes Monica’s apartment and the gang’s favorite coffee shop, Central Perk. The collection will be on display at Bloomingdales’ flagship in New York City on this weekend. The sets will be available later at Bloomingdale’s locations across the country. This is the first association made by Ralph Lauren with FRIENDS.
Other Collaborations
Many other companies have also decided to release FRIENDS related products as a part of their 25th anniversary. In July, Pottery Barn announced a line of Friends-themed products with inside jokes from the show, including the infamous table from the aptly named season 6 episode, “The One with the Apothecary Table.”
The popular fashion brand, ASOS and H&M have plenty of Friends-logoed sweatshirts and T-shirts. The popular toy makers Lego has created a replica of Central Perk, which comes with the main characters and features details like a cash register, menu board, flowers and even a cookie jar. Trivial Pursuit, the famous board game makers, has also come out with a “Friends” edition.
